Rangers are exploring a deal for Aston Villa right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic, with the Ibrox club keen to bolster their defensive options.
Serbian international on Rangers' radar
The 20-year-old Serbian international joined the Premier League club in 2024 but spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. Nedeljkovic moved to Villa from Red Star Belgrade for £8 million, and Rangers have now identified him as a target.
Rangers manager Derek McInnes is keen to strengthen his backline and would like to add the Serb to his new-look squad. The Gers are weighing up a cash deal for Nedeljkovic, but a loan with an option to buy is also a possibility.
Competition for places
McInnes currently has Dujon Sterling and Ross McCrorie in that position but wants to add the Villa star to his ranks. Rangers lost 2-1 to Hibs in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, falling five points behind Old Firm rivals Celtic after just two games of the season.
McInnes has already signed nine new players this summer and the club are trying to tie up a deal for £6 million-rated PSV winger Couhaib Driouech. Nedeljkovic could be the latest addition to McInnes' squad if the Gers can strike a deal.
