PSG vs Bayern Munich prediction: Champions League betting tips & odds
Follow our football betting tips ahead of the first Champions League semi-final between PSG and Bayern Munich.
Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain couldn’t have asked for a tougher semi-final draw as they prepare to face in-form six-time champions Bayern Munich in the first leg of their tie this evening (8pm, Amazon Prime).
The German giants have been in imperious form this season, securing their 35th Bundesliga title with four games to spare, and they currently sit 15 points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund. With the league title secured, Bayern can now focus fully on their quest for Champions League glory, with betting sites making them favourites to lift the European Cup in Budapest next month.
Bayern qualified for the knockout stages in second place in their group, with seven wins and one defeat from their opening eight games. That run included a 2-1 victory over tonight’s opponents in Paris back in November. Former Liverpool forward Luis Diaz scored twice in the opening 32 minutes before being sent off on the stroke of half-time. Despite playing the entire second half with ten men, they held on for the win, although Joao Neves did score a late consolation goal.
PSG vs Bayern Munich betting preview: First blood to Bayern
That meeting in matchweek five was only the 16th encounter between the two sides, and 15 of those have come in this competition, with nine occurring in the last nine seasons. The German side leads the head-to-head with nine wins to PSG's seven, and they won't fear playing at the Parc des Princes after winning on their last four trips there. Despite that record, football betting sites make PSG the favourites to win the first leg.
The home side enters the game with 11 wins from their last 14 matches, including two 2-0 victories over Liverpool in the last round. They have also overcome Barcelona and Chelsea, defeating the latter 8-2 on aggregate in the round of 16. Bayern's record is similar, and they go into the game on a 19-game unbeaten streak, winning 17 of those, including a dramatic 4-3 comeback victory on Saturday after trailing 3-0 at half-time against Mainz.
Harry Kane and Michael Olise were left on the bench for that match but were introduced at the break, and both scored, along with Nicolas Jackson and Jamal Musiala. In this competition, Bayern have won 11 of their 12 matches, with their only defeat coming at the Emirates in November when Arsenal won 3-1. They overcame Real Madrid in the last round, winning 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu and 4-3 at home in the second leg, with Kane and Diaz both on target in each leg.
While PSG showed last season that they grow into the competition, Bayern will present a completely different challenge compared to the sides PSG have faced so far. This is Bayern's 22nd European Cup/Champions League semi-final, but they have lost their last five two-legged semi-finals, so Vincent Kompany's side will see this as a huge opportunity to win it for the first time since 2020.

Kane the man again?
Kane scored in both legs of the quarter-final win over Real Madrid, moving him to 12 goals for the season in this competition, and he could still catch the current leader, Kylian Mbappe, on 15. The England captain has scored in five successive Champions League games and already holds the record for most goals by an Englishman in a single season in the competition.
He has netted 58 goals in 50 appearances for club and country this season, including scoring in his last seven appearances and 19 in his last 15 games. It's no surprise that the best price available for him to score at any time is 11/10, but you could still double your money. If you're feeling braver, betting apps offer 13/2 on him scoring two or more for the 18th time this season.
