Liverpool have opened negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola, and a reported breakthrough in PSG's pursuit of Maghnes Akliouche could accelerate the deal. The Reds have so far added only two new signings under Andoni Iraola: Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz.
Iraola's side began pre-season with a win over Sunderland and followed that with a 1-0 victory against Wrexham in New York, where Rio Ngumoha scored while operating on the right wing - the position usually occupied by Mohamed Salah, who has still not been replaced.
Barcola chase boosted
It is understood that Liverpool have started discussions with PSG over Barcola, who is valued at £140m. Preliminary talks with the player's representatives have already been held and are said to be encouraging.
PSG are likely to want a replacement before letting Barcola leave, and Sky Sports Germany reports a decisive development in their talks with Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche. All parties are confident a deal will be completed.
Akliouche has also agreed personal terms with Luis Enrique's side. Should he arrive as predicted, it would hand Liverpool a significant boost in their attempt to sign Barcola.
Jones to Inter?
On the departure front, Curtis Jones remains linked with a move away from Anfield, with Inter Milan the primary suitors. Negotiations are ongoing between the clubs, though they remain apart on valuation.
Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that once Inter complete the free-agent signing of John Stones, they will go all in for Jones. Inter manager Cristian Chivu is reportedly eager to wrap up a deal, and after a meeting two nights ago, Inter's chiefs agreed on a slow but direct approach.
Inter value Jones at £21m, while Liverpool want £34m. The Italian side are willing to play the waiting game. Jones came off the bench in the win over Wrexham and was seen in animated discussion with team-mates after full-time.
