Aston Villa took control early in the match, with goals from Youri Tielemans and Emi Buendia giving them a 2-0 lead at half-time. Morgan Rogers added a third on the hour mark to seal the win and spark celebrations among fans in the stadium and back in England.
The triumph marks Aston Villa's first major trophy in 30 years and adds another Europa League title to manager Unai Emery's record, who had previously won the competition four times. Emery's only defeat in a Europa League final came in 2019 when his Arsenal side lost 4-1 to Chelsea.
Emery had already secured Champions League football for Villa next season after a strong Premier League campaign, with the team needing just one point from their final match to finish fourth. Villa's last major cup final appearance was in the 2020 Carabao Cup final, where they lost 2-1 to Manchester City.
