By the time the 2026 World Cup concludes, United States head coach Mauricio Pochettino will see his contract with the men's national team expire. The Argentine appears to already be preparing for his next move.
According to multiple reports, the 54-year-old Pochettino has held discussions with representatives from Italian giants AC Milan regarding their now-vacant head coaching position.
Milan, one of the most historic clubs in football, recently parted ways with Massimiliano Allegri after the team failed to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.
Allegri's departure was part of a broader restructuring at the club, which also saw sporting director Igli Tare, chief executive Giorgio Furlani, and technical director Geoffrey Moncada leave their roles.
Pochettino has been linked with a potential exit from the national team for some time. Rumours about a possible return to Tottenham Hotspur were dismissed by the coach when questioned by the Daily Mail last June.
The Argentine is not the only candidate for the Milan job. Andoni Iraola, who is leaving Bournemouth as a free agent, was previously reported as a leading contender.
However, reports from Sky Sports indicate that Iraola is not interested in joining Milan, with the coach preferring to move to either Liverpool or German club Bayer Leverkusen.
More to follow.
