Pep Guardiola has sent a message to Manchester City supporters, urging them not to wait until his departure to appreciate his success. The City boss is just 90 minutes away from adding another major honour to his collection as his side prepares to face Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.
Guardiola's Trophy Haul
Guardiola has dominated English football over the past decade, securing an astonishing 19 trophies since taking charge at the Etihad in 2016. These include six Premier League titles and a historic Treble in 2023. Reflecting on his achievements, Guardiola admitted that collecting silverware has been "f***ing fun."
When asked if his success proves his greatness, Guardiola said: "Of course, 19 titles in ten years is not bad. They know (the supporters). They don't need to wait until when I'm leaving, they know I've been fun. I've been f****ing fun."
FA Cup Final Preview
City will look to add the FA Cup to the Carabao Cup they have already secured this season when they face Chelsea in the showpiece final at Wembley. This will be a record fourth straight final for City, and the 24th time Guardiola has led his team to the iconic stadium.
Despite suffering two previous final defeats this season, Guardiola insists he will never tire of visiting Wembley. He even joked that a section of the stadium should be named after him. "I'm so disappointed that they don't make a stand for Pep, the number of times I've been there! At least a lounge or a box," he said.
Guardiola added: "There is definitely excitement. Hopefully we can do better than the last times. This is a new game against Chelsea, and of course we try to lift the trophy. It's been a special place. It's really good to go to Wembley again. Everything is so nice. The pitch is extraordinary. Hopefully it will be a nice day."
City could be boosted by the return of Ballon d'Or winner Rodri for the final. Guardiola is desperate to avoid an unwanted hat-trick of final defeats and will be determined to secure yet another piece of silverware.
