Ronnie O'Sullivan caused a bizarre interruption in his World Open first-round match against Ross Muir after storming off due to a wardrobe malfunction. Just minutes into the first frame, the seven-time world champion became visibly frustrated with the stitching on his waistcoat, specifically around a sponsor patch.
After attempting to adjust the garment and failing to concentrate, O'Sullivan abruptly left the table following a brief exchange with the referee. The match in Yushan, China, was suspended as Muir and the audience were left bewildered. O'Sullivan returned a few minutes later and resumed play, eventually taking the first frame with a break of 50.
The match also saw a second interruption when a fly landed on the cue ball just as Muir was about to play a shot. The insect was shooed away and later removed during O'Sullivan's turn, but the Rocket remained unfazed, securing a commanding 5-1 victory.
O'Sullivan compiled breaks of 83, 69, and a stunning 114 in the final frame, though he narrowly missed a record-breaking 18th maximum break after potting 15 reds and blacks before going in-off. He now faces Matthew Selt in the next round on Wednesday.
