Martin Odegaard has declared that Arsenal 'want to take the trophies home' after the Gunners moved to within one game of securing their first Premier League title in 22 years. A first-half header from Kai Havertz secured a 1-0 victory over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium, putting Arsenal five points clear of Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
Title Race in Arsenal's Hands
Arsenal's win means the title race remains in their hands ahead of their final match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday. However, Manchester City could take the race to the final day by beating Bournemouth on Tuesday night. Odegaard, speaking after the match, expressed his pride in the team's performance and urged fans to keep supporting them.
'I am really proud. It has been an amazing season so far. We have one big one left and then the Champions League final and we want to take the trophies home,' Odegaard said. 'I can promise you all that we will give everything we have, and keep going until the very end and with your support we are going to be ready.'
Potential Historic Double
Arsenal could complete a historic double this month, with a Champions League final against Paris St Germain scheduled for May 30 in Budapest. Manager Mikel Arteta, who received a huge reception from the home crowd, praised the fans for their role in the club's transformation.
'It is an absolute joy to witness the transformation and contribution each of you have had to turn this place into the most beautiful place to enjoy and play our football games,' Arteta said. 'This is the soul of this football club. Make sure that every time you step in this stadium you have the responsibility to keep these standards because it makes such a difference to us and the players.'
Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League for the first time since 2004, and a victory over Crystal Palace would secure the title regardless of City's result against Bournemouth.
