Galatasaray have confirmed that Noa Lang suffered a serious thumb injury during their Champions League defeat to Liverpool and has undergone surgery in Liverpool. The 26-year-old forward was carried off on a stretcher after colliding with advertising boards late in the 4-0 loss at Anfield on Wednesday.
Lang, who came on as a half-time substitute for Victor Osimhen, was seen in agony and received oxygen before being taken to hospital. Galatasaray's statement, released early Thursday, said: 'Our player Noa Lang sustained a serious cut to his right thumb, and it is planned for him to undergo surgery in Liverpool in the coming hours with the participation of our medical team.'
The Turkish club also confirmed that Osimhen suffered a fracture in his right forearm after taking a blow to his arm in the first half. He was substituted at half-time, and a decision on whether he will require surgery will be made in the coming days.
Liverpool advanced to the quarter-finals with a dominant performance, goals from Dominik Szoboszlai, Hugo Ekitike, Ryan Gravenberch and Mohamed Salah securing a 4-0 win on the night and a 5-1 aggregate victory. They will face Paris Saint-Germain in the next round.
