Newsboy's Tuesday Nap: Thornaby Annie to Bounce Back at Beverley

Newsboy has made Thornaby Annie his Nap selection for Tuesday's six-race card at Beverley, with the three-year-old running in the finale at 4.58. The Adrian Nicholls-trained filly is expected to put a disappointing effort at Nottingham behind her and return to winning ways in the Racing Again On Monday Evening Handicap.

Thornaby Annie raced too keenly and met trouble before tiring late on at Nottingham, finishing seventh, 10 lengths behind Empirical. That followed a consistent run of form which saw her finish second at Doncaster and Redcar before breaking her duck with a neck victory over Inferno over a mile at Wetherby. The form of that success was boosted when the fourth-placed Celtic Chariot won next time out at Doncaster.

The drop back to seven furlongs is not expected to inconvenience Thornaby Annie, who will face likely favourite The Sweet Escape. The top weight has been raised 3lb for his latest success, which may give Newsboy's pick an edge.

At Wolverhampton, Newsboy's next best (nb) is Luan in the Follow Attheraces On X Handicap at 7.55. The James Ferguson-trained four-year-old won well over 1m2f at Newcastle last time, beating The Ubermensch by a length and a quarter. That rival has since won at Yarmouth, and the step up to an additional two furlongs on Tuesday should suit Luan even more.
