Naval Light Selected as NAP at Catterick
NAVAL LIGHT (4.10, NAP) can follow up a confidence-boosting maiden victory by making his mark at handicap level at Catterick today with the help of Jack Nicholls’s valuable 5lb claim. Wathnan Racing would have had much higher hopes for the gelding as a youngster when he was rated highly enough to run at Royal Ascot on his second start. He went on to run well in valuable maidens at Goodwood and York.
Trainer Karl Burke found an easier option for him on his third start of the year when he got off the mark at Pontefract in May over 6f. Back over 7f today he can take a step towards a return to the bigger meetings.
Gorgeous Me George Targets Hat-Trick at Yarmouth
At Yarmouth, GORGEOUS ME GEORGE (6.40, NB) can complete a hat-trick of course successes under Taryn Langley. The Dylan Cunha-trained gelding has done all his winning at the Norfolk track. A year ago he won three times over 7f. This year his victories have come at 1m.
He returns to 7f for today’s challenge off a career high mark of 82 but he loves the course so much, he is difficult to oppose.
