IT'S MAY, it's Cartmel, it has to be EVENWOOD SONOFAGUN (7.38, nap). The Lizzie Quinlan-trained eight-year-old won on the Monday and Wednesday of last year's Bank Holiday meeting at the picturesque Cumbrian track. After a barren year in eight races following that, wind surgery seems to have done the trick on Monday as Sean Quinlan rode him to a two-length success over Masterminding. Today, he is ready to land another May double in the Cartmel Handicap Hurdle.
OR ANOTHER (2.05, nb) ran the very definition of green on his debut but should be wiser for that experience in the Wyvis Roofing EBF Maiden Stakes at Hamilton. Trained by Karl Burke, who knows a thing or two about winning with two-year-olds, the son of Dark Angel is out of a dam who is a half-sister to Tactical, winner of the Windsor Castle in the royal silks. Having broke well he then dropped to the back of the four-runner field before rushing up on the outside going like the winner. He just looked a bit clueless when asked for an effort and can be expected to know a lot more about the game this time.
