Newbury hosts a six-race Flat meeting on Monday, and Newsboy's nap, Naval Tribute, is fancied to win the 4.35 South Downs Water Handicap. The James Owen-trained five-year-old aims to make it three wins from his last five starts, having triumphed at Kempton Park and Beverley either side of a below-par run at Lingfield. Stepping up to two miles for the first time at Ascot last time out, Naval Tribute kept on well to finish second, beaten a length and a quarter by Believeitanducan. That winner boosted the form with a follow-up from a 4lb higher mark at Chester on Saturday. The BHA assessor has nudged Naval Tribute up 1lb, but that may not be enough to stop the son of Sea The Stars from going one better.
Wolverhampton Selection
At Wolverhampton, A Lott Of Kane will take some catching in the Free Digital Racecard At raceday-ready.com Classified Stakes (8.30). Despite a poor draw in stall 10, Chelsea Banham's three-year-old ran out the convincing winner of a six-furlong handicap at Dunstall Park on his most recent outing and shouldn't be troubled by coming back in distance in an eminently winnable race.
