Newsboy's Friday Racing Tips: Delta Blues Belle Nap at Chepstow
Newsboy's Friday Racing Tips: Chepstow Nap

Friday's horse racing action features four meetings across the UK, with Newsboy providing his expert tips and selections. The focus is on Chepstow and Fakenham, where he has identified key contenders for success.

Chepstow Nap: Delta Blues Belle

At Chepstow, Newsboy's nap is Delta Blues Belle in the 4.55 race, the Chepstow 9th August Centenary Raceday Handicap Hurdle. This six-year-old mare, trained by Dan Skelton and ridden by Harry Skelton, is fancied to overcome a 7lb penalty from her recent victory. She faces nine rivals in this competitive hurdle event.

Delta Blues Belle has shown impressive form, particularly in her last outing at Huntingdon eight days ago. Stepping up to just over three miles on soft ground, she made smooth headway after the third-last hurdle, took the lead after the last, and won readily by a length from Briery Butterfly. This performance on ground similar to Friday's conditions suggests she has more to offer and can secure another win.

Her background includes a point-to-point win in Ireland over three miles, but she has been campaigned over shorter hurdles distances. The recent step up in trip appears to have unlocked her potential, making her a strong favourite in this handicap hurdle.

Fakenham Next Best: Morning Mayhem

At Fakenham, Newsboy's next best selection is Morning Mayhem in the 1.20 race, the 150,000 Prize Money On 4th May Handicap Hurdle. This five-year-old gelding, trained by Nick Scholfield and ridden by Kielan Woods, aims to bounce back after being a beaten favourite last time out.

Morning Mayhem has demonstrated ability on soft ground, which is expected at Fakenham. Three starts ago in December, he cruised to a seven-and-a-half-length victory at Uttoxeter, beating the odds-on favourite Thankyouandplease. Although he was brought down at Fontwell when going well and finished third last time, he stayed on strongly, only three and a quarter lengths behind the winner Mr Zee.

With an extra furlong in this race and facing largely exposed rivals, Morning Mayhem is well-positioned to return to winning form. His preference for soft conditions and previous impressive performances make him a key contender for the Daily Double.
