Newcastle United won the Trofeu Taronja with a 2-1 victory over Valencia in Matthias Jaissle's first game in charge. The match, played at the Mestalla, saw the Magpies come from behind after Filip Ugrinic's thunderbolt gave the hosts a fourth-minute lead.
Red card and Wissa's impact
Before the break, Jose Gaya was sent off for a shocking challenge on Anthony Elanga, reducing Valencia to 10 men. Jaissle introduced Yoane Wissa at half-time, and he took just seven minutes to make an impact, cashing in on a backpass before threading through the keeper's legs. Wissa then played a one-two with Bazoumana Toure to tear open the Valencia defence and leave the DR Congo man with a tap-in.

Lukas Hornicek 7: Once the communication was ironed out he settled down and claimed well on his debut. Could do nothing about the opening goal after being left exposed.
Leo Shahar 6: Did OK but the right-back issue is a growing concern with Tino Libramenyto still out. Replaced by Mason Miley at half-time.
Malick Thiaw 7: A decent enough start as captain but needed to steady the ship after shaky start.
Sven Botman 6: Some shaky moments in the heart of defence, including a header that almost looped past his own keeper for a second OG of pre-season after Bristol City.
Miodrag Pivas 7: The centre-back was thrown in at the deep end as a left-back. Managed four recoveries and three clearances. Clearly not the answer at left-back but this was a good effort.
Aladji Bamba 8: A strong opening with some crunch tackles. Won six duels and was impressive on his debut before coming off at half-time.
Jacob Ramsey 7: Used further back in a holding role and worked hard managing seven recoveries.
Anthony Elanga 8: Put in an exciting display down the right as he caused Valencia problems. The Sweden star had a goal disallowed before becoming victim of a two-footed challenge from Jose Gaya.
Nick Woltemade 5: The new boss had inherited an old problem. Where to play Woltemade. He was no offensive threat but how can he be when used in this position? Ineffective in truth.
Harvey Barnes 5: Didn't manage an accurate cross. Has to bring more to the table than this.
William Osula 6: Lively but should have done better with great chance. Taken off at the break.

Jacob Murphy 6 (for Elanga 39): Replaced Elanga but looked leggy. Terrible miss in stoppage time.
Sean Steur 8 (for Bamba 46): Playing way above his years.
Yoanne Wissa 9 (for Osula 46): Came off the bench with his double, transforming the game. After a poor first season can this be his year? The goal hero takes man of the match.
Mason Miley 7 (for Shahar 46): Looked good at right-back for one so young.
Bazoumana Toure 8 (for Barnes 46): Looked very good and confident on the ball with some bulldozing runs down the left. Weighed in with an assist too.
Joelinton 6 (for Woltemade 67): Battled away but short on minutes.
Joe Willock 6 (for Ramsey 67): Did OK but faces a battle to be in the starting XI vs Liverpool.
Dylan Charlton 6 (for Pivas 67): A solid show.
Henry Johnson 8 (for Thiaw 72): Remarkably composed for a youngster. Has clearly made an impression on Jaissle.
