Newcastle keeper Harris joins Hebburn Town on loan

Newcastle United goalkeeper Aidan Harris has joined National League North side Hebburn Town on an initial one-month loan deal.

The 19-year-old has spent this season training exclusively with the first-team goalkeeper group under Matthias Jaissle, making just one appearance for the under-21s side as a result. The move to the Trustmark Group stadium marks his second taste of regular senior football.

Previous loan spell at Coleraine

Harris spent the first half of last season on loan with Northern Irish Premiership runners-up Coleraine, making 22 appearances before returning to Tyneside for the second half of the campaign.

He was named on the bench five times in the Champions League last season, travelling with Eddie Howe's squad to face PSG and being involved for both legs of the knockout ties against Qarabag and Barcelona.

First-team goalkeeping options narrow

Harris's departure leaves Newcastle with three fit senior goalkeepers. Ewen Jaouen is sidelined with a hamstring injury, leaving Lukas Hornicek, Nick Pope and Mark Gillespie as Jaissle's available options.

Teenagers Roman Dowell and George Mair continue to impress at under-21 level, with hopes high for their future at the club.
