New England Revolution have sacked head coach Caleb Porter after less than two seasons in charge. The decision followed a 1-1 draw at home to Toronto FC, in which the team were rescued by a late equaliser from Luca Langoni.
With four games remaining in the season, the Revolution are 10 points adrift of the final play-off spot and appear certain to miss the post-season. Assistant coach Pablo Moreira will take over for the remainder of the campaign.
The team have struggled under Porter, who finished 14th in the Eastern Conference last season. Porter’s 2024 squad, largely constructed by predecessor Bruce Arena, suffered one of the worst seasons in club history, scoring the fewest goals in MLS and conceding the second most. A near-total roster rebuild followed, but results in 2025 have not improved significantly.
Since winning five of their first 10 games this season, the Revs have taken only three victories from their last 20 matches, including a nine-game winless run in June and July. Across all competitions, New England recorded a record of 23 wins, 13 draws and 39 defeats under Porter.
