David Moyes would "jump" at the chance to take over Celtic, according to former West Ham scout Mick Brown, who worked with the Scottish boss at the Hammers.
The 63-year-old veteran manager faces an uncertain future at Everton, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. As things stand, there has been no progress on an extension after initial talks were held over the summer.
Everton's Solid Start
Despite a chaotic transfer window, the Toffees have made a decent start to the season and sit eighth in the Premier League after eight games.
But after spending most of his managerial career down south, former ally Brown reckons the ex-Man United and Sunderland boss could be tempted back up north.
Celtic's Potential Vacancy
Celtic could be in the hunt for a new manager next season, with Martin O'Neill only penning an initial one-year contract in the summer. Brown believes Moyes would be keen on a return to Parkhead - where he started his playing career - if O'Neill were to depart.
He told Football Insider: "There's still a lot that has to happen before we can talk about David Moyes leaving Everton.
"But if they can't reach an agreement about a new contract, then he will have to consider his options, and I think the Celtic job could be very appealing for him.
"He would jump at the chance to go back to Scotland, with the club he used to represent as a player, so it would make a lot of sense for all parties.
"From a Celtic point of view, it would be a major coup to land a manager like Moyes, and that's why I do have doubts about whether he will end up leaving Everton.
"But he's obviously got family up in Scotland, so that's always a possibility that he could be tempted to move back there, and as I said, the Celtic job will surely appeal to him."
