Silvino Louro, the long-time goalkeeping coach for José Mourinho at Chelsea, Manchester United and several other top clubs, has died aged 67 following an illness. The Portuguese was a key member of Mourinho's backroom staff from 2001 to 2018, working at Porto, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Manchester United expressed their sadness, recalling his role in the 2016/17 treble-winning season, while Chelsea said they were 'deeply saddened'. Both clubs extended condolences to his family. Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Benfica also paid tribute, highlighting his contributions and the trophies won during his tenure.
As a player, Louro was a legendary figure at Benfica and earned 23 caps for Portugal. He also served as Portugal's goalkeeping coach. Porto head coach Francesco Farioli dedicated their Europa League win to his memory, saying Diogo Costa's performance 'honoured Silvino's memory'.
