Native Instinct is fancied to improve on his return-to-action at Hamilton Park last time and land the Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap (5.10) at Carlisle on Monday.
Native Instinct Set for Victory
Ed Bethell’s son of Night Of Thunder drew a blank from seven starts in 2025, but the evidence of his comeback is that 2026 will not be a barren year. A well-backed 2-1 favourite against seven opponents on his first outing for 187 days, the four-year-old led entering the final quarter mile, only to succumb close home to one-length victor Quiet Resolve. The form of that race has held up well, and Native Instinct competes from the same handicap mark of 74 here. The step back from a mile to a stiff seven furlongs won’t be an issue, and the top weight looks good to go one better.
Redorange Seeks Compensation at Windsor
At Windsor, Redorange is expected to gain compensation for an unlucky run at York on Thursday when he takes on 10 opponents for the Fitzdares Sprint Series Handicap (5.40). Clive Cox’s speedstar didn’t get anything like a clear run when finishing eighth of 21 to Jakajaro in a valuable five-furlong handicap. Sprinters usually have no problem backing up quickly, and with Cox firing in the winners, Rossa Ryan’s partner makes plenty of appeal.
