Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, with his final game set to be the Premier League clash against Brentford at Anfield on May 24. The announcement came after Liverpool's Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain, which ended any chance of the 33-year-old adding to his trophy collection before departing.
In an emotional statement on Instagram, Salah wrote: 'Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.' He added: 'Liverpool is not just a football club. It is a passion, a history, a spirit. I can’t explain in words.'
Salah joined Liverpool in 2017 and has since won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. However, defeats to Manchester City in the FA Cup and PSG in the Champions League mean he will not add further silverware before his departure.
Defender Andy Robertson has also announced he will leave the club this summer after nine successful years. Liverpool are still competing for a top-five finish to qualify for next season's Champions League, which could add further significance to the final day fixture against Brentford.
