Curtis Jones has confirmed that Mohamed Salah apologised to his Liverpool teammates following the Egyptian's explosive interview after the 3-3 draw with Leeds United. Salah, who has since left to represent Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, made several brutal remarks after failing to get off the bench.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Jones said: "Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff. He apologised to us and was like, 'If I've affected anybody or made you feel any sort of way, I apologise'. That's the man that he is." Jones added that Salah remained positive and had a big smile on his face, and the squad reacted normally.
Jones also addressed his own brutally honest interview after a 4-1 Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven, saying: "I'm a Scouser, I know how much it means to the city and fans... I will say what I think, and at times it will rub people up the wrong way." He stressed that the team is like a family and that arguments don't affect their unity.
The incident appears to have been resolved, with Salah reintegrated into the side for last weekend's victory over Brighton, where he grabbed an assist. Jones said: "We're past that now and we're gelling well as a team, playing well and starting to win games."
