Rory McIlroy resumed his preparation for the US PGA Championship on Wednesday morning despite ongoing toe troubles. The 37-year-old, aiming to win back-to-back majors at Aronimink Golf Club in Philadelphia, cut short his practice round on Tuesday after just a few holes due to discomfort.
During Tuesday's session, McIlroy was seen removing his shoe, having revealed last week at the Truist Championship that he was battling a blister on the little toe of his right foot. Reports indicate he tore off the nail earlier this week, causing visible distress. However, by Wednesday, he appeared to be moving more freely after limping the previous day.
McIlroy took to the putting green shortly after 9:00 AM local time (2:00 PM BST) before heading to the practice range. He then began a practice round on the 10th hole alongside former champion Padraig Harrington, Ryder Cup teammate Shane Lowry, and Spaniard Angel Ayora.
The Northern Irishman is set to begin his quest for a seventh major title on Thursday at 8:40 AM local time (1:40 PM BST), playing alongside Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth.
