McIlroy Limps at Truist Championship but Denies Blister Excuse for Poor Round
McIlroy Limps at Truist, Denies Blister Excuse

Rory McIlroy was seen limping during the final round of the Truist Championship on Sunday, raising concerns for the Masters champion with the US PGA Championship looming next week.

McIlroy Addresses Injury

McIlroy told reporters he has a blister on the pinky toe of his right foot but refused to use it as an excuse for his four-over-par 75 on Saturday, which effectively ended his chances in South Carolina.

When asked about his limp on Sunday, McIlroy explained: "Yeah, I've got a blister on my pinky toe on my right foot. But it's underneath my nail. So I can't really get to it or so it's a little sore, but I'll be all right. I started to feel it Friday afternoon."

However, when pressed on whether the blister contributed to his disappointing third round, McIlroy was emphatic: "No, not at all. I wish that was an excuse but absolutely not."

Looking Ahead to the PGA Championship

The second major of the year, the PGA Championship, commences on Thursday at Aronimink Golf Club near Philadelphia. McIlroy will be hoping to put the blister behind him as he aims for another major title.
