Former Chelsea captain John Terry has confirmed he has not been approached to join Calum McFarlane’s backroom staff following the sacking of Liam Rosenior. Rosenior was dismissed on Wednesday after 107 days in charge, with a run of seven defeats in eight games sealing his fate.
McFarlane, previously the Under-21s head coach, has been handed the reins on an interim basis until the end of the season. He previously took caretaker charge in January after Enzo Maresca’s departure, overseeing a 1-1 draw at Manchester City and a 2-1 defeat to Fulham.
Terry, who works as a part-time consultant for Chelsea’s academy, told his TikTok channel he had received no call from McFarlane. “I am not sure what Calum’s backroom staff is going to look like, I have not had a call, I have not had a message,” he said.
He added: “I will be continuing my role in the academy. We will all get behind Calum – he did a great job away against Man City.” Terry’s comments come as Chelsea aim to win the FA Cup and secure Champions League qualification under McFarlane.
