Verdict
Shaw has one year left on his contract. Hall is ten years younger and finding his rhythm. A £50-70m fee could secure a first-choice left-back for a decade. Carrick wants to control games, and Hall's offensive strengths suit that system. Shaw's defensive stats were better but Hall was close. This deal seems an obvious one for United to pursue.
