McCoist: Greenwood Penalty Denial Was Clear Foul
McCoist: Greenwood Denied Clear Penalty vs Liverpool

Ally McCoist was adamant that Fenerbahce should have been awarded a penalty after Mason Greenwood was shoved by Kostas Tsimikas during the early stages of the Champions League clash with Liverpool. The English attacker was played through on goal midway through the first half, but a firm push from Tsimikas knocked him off balance and prevented him from shooting.

VAR Does Not Review the Incident

Greenwood and the home support saw their penalty appeals waved away, with VAR also failing to review the incident. After watching replays of the potential foul, McCoist was clear in his assessment.

Speaking on TNT Sports, McCoist said: "It's a penalty, it's two hands, not even one hand. That prevents him for me getting a shot on goal. Both hands. I think it's a penalty, I really do. It's a shame because it's a great ball and an exquisite touch."

McCoist: Liverpool Got Away With One

McCoist added: "I think so (got away with one), I really think so. He pushes him both hands when he's in the process of having an attempt on goal just because it doesn't look like it, doesn't make it not a penalty."

Moments after the incident, Trey Nyoni put Liverpool in front with a deflected effort, further angering Fenerbahce. Greenwood equalised shortly afterwards, his free-kick wrong-footing Alisson after a touch from a Liverpool player.
