Victoria Mboko has expressed her excitement about partnering with tennis legend Serena Williams in doubles at next week's HSBC Championships at the Queen's Club. The 19-year-old Canadian, who was voted WTA Newcomer of the Year in 2025, took to social media to share her enthusiasm.
Mboko's Tribute to Williams
On Thursday, Mboko posted a picture of the duo on the grass courts of the Queen's Club, captioned: "An honor to share the court with one of the greatest athletes of all time this week. Even more excited to play doubles together! Tennis is pretty special."
Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, announced her return to tennis earlier this week, choosing the Queen's Club as the venue for her comeback. The west London club hosted a women's tournament last year for the first time since 1973.
Williams' Comeback
The 44-year-old American has not competed since the 2022 US Open, though she never officially used the word "retirement," preferring to describe her hiatus as "evolving away" from tennis. In her announcement, Williams said: "Queen's Club feels like the perfect place to begin this next chapter. Grass has given me some of the most meaningful moments of my career, and I'm excited to be back competing on one of the sport's most iconic stages."
Mboko, who is 25 years younger than Williams, will partner the veteran at the HSBC Championships, marking a significant moment for both players. The pair were pictured practising together at the Queen's Club ahead of the tournament, sparking excitement among fans.
