Enzo Maresca has signed a three-year contract to succeed Pep Guardiola as Manchester City manager, according to reports. The Italian, who previously served as Guardiola's assistant at the Etihad, will take over after the Catalan's departure was confirmed last week.
Maresca left Leicester City to manage Chelsea, where he won the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup before being sacked earlier this year. He had previously indicated he held talks with City about eventually replacing Guardiola.
Guardiola, who leaves after a decade of unprecedented success including six Premier League titles and a Champions League, has pledged to support his successor. 'I will tell him, 'Be yourself and the club will support you unconditionally',' Guardiola said.
Maresca will be fully involved in transfer strategy, with Elliot Anderson reportedly a key target. City have already begun squad regeneration, signing Marc Guehi, Antoine Semenyo, Rayan Cherki, and Abdukodir Khusanov in recent windows.
