Maresca demands City stop conceding silly goals

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has said his team must stop conceding silly goals after another defensive error led to back-to-back defeats in the Premier League. Matheus Nunes was at fault for Brighton's winner, a week after Marc Guehi and Gianluigi Donnarumma should have done better for Aston Villa's goals against the Blues.

Perfect Start Unravels

After a perfect start of seven wins from seven in the Premier League, City have been brought down to earth by losing two in a row. City had the better chances in both games but were bested in both boxes by their opponents again.

Maresca was happy with the performance, although he said they need to start winning these games. Cutting out the individual errors would be a significant step towards making life easier for City on the pitch.

Manager's Response

"In this moment we are conceding silly goals that we can avoid and hopefully we can avoid in the next game," said the City manager. "Unfortunately it is happening for our players but I think it is part of the game, part of football, it happens many times against us, we need to analyse understand what we can do better and try to move on."

"For sure we are not happy. The players, me the coaching staff, no one is happy when we lose games at all, for sure, but we were aware we were not going to win all the games so these kind of moments arrive."

Looking Ahead

"We just need to try to improve things, move on and try to win games as soon as possible," Maresca added. City will look to return to winning ways in their next Premier League fixture.
