Marc Guéhi to Leave Crystal Palace After Rejecting Contract

Crystal Palace captain Marc Guéhi has informed the club he will not sign a new contract and intends to leave next year, manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed. The England defender's current deal expires at the end of the season, and he has rejected all attempts to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.

Guéhi, 25, was close to joining Liverpool in the summer before chairman Steve Parish pulled out of the deal hours before the transfer deadline. The collapse reportedly left the player unhappy, but he has continued to perform strongly for Palace. Glasner stated before Saturday's match against Bournemouth that Guéhi has made his decision clear.

“I think Marc has already told us that he doesn’t sign a new contract, so he will leave next year,” Glasner said. “The club wanted [him to stay]. They offered Marc a new contract. But he said: ‘No, I want to make something different.’”

Guéhi, who has attracted interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Liverpool, will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club when the January transfer window opens on New Year's Day 2026.

Meanwhile, Glasner confirmed he has begun talks over extending his own contract, which also expires at the end of the season. The 51-year-old Austrian said his future may depend on the club's vision, including stadium expansion plans. “If we can find the same pathway and goal for Crystal Palace, then we will end the talks, and if we can’t, we will also end the talks,” he added.
