Manchester United have confirmed that midfielder Sekou Kone has rejoined Swiss Super League side Lausanne-Sport on loan for the 2026/27 season, subject to registration. The 20-year-old Mali youth international first joined United from Guidars FC in August 2024 for £1 million.
Kone spent the second half of last season on loan with Lausanne, featuring in five league games. However, after starting only one match, injury brought an early end to his campaign and limited his opportunities. With this in mind, United agreed to send him back to the Swiss club, where he has spent the opening weeks of pre-season.
In a statement on the club's official website, United said: "Manchester United youngster Sekou Kone has agreed to join Lausanne-Sport on loan for the 2026/27 season, subject to registration. The Mali youth international spent the second half of last season with the Swiss Super League club, gaining valuable experience in senior football. Having made a positive impression during that time, Sekou is now returning to Switzerland to continue his development."
Kone has already featured for Lausanne in pre-season, including a recent match against Brazilian side Flamengo in Portugal. Lausanne finished ninth in the Swiss Super League last season and will hope to progress under new head coach Luka Elsner, who was appointed in July.
United manager Michael Carrick has indicated he will keep a close eye on the club's young players. After watching the Under-18s side beat Oxford United in the FA Youth Cup, Carrick said: "Yeah, it was good. I enjoyed it. We went down, there was a number of the staff that went down and yeah it was always something we were trying to do and as much as we can, we'll do that in between our fixtures. In the Youth Cup, I've got great memories personally of the Youth Cup when I was younger."
