Sir Alex Ferguson Lists £3.5m Mansion for Sale After Wife's Death

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has put his Cheshire mansion on the market for £3.5 million, six weeks after the death of his wife, Lady Cathy. The 81-year-old football legend had lived in the five-bedroom property in Wilmslow with his wife of 57 years before she passed away on October 7.

The 7,000 sq ft detached house features a gated entrance, six bathrooms, a games room, gym, private bar, and four reception rooms. The estate agent's listing describes it as 'deceptively spacious' and positioned within a 'very private, gated and secure plot'. The property is being offered with no chain.

Images of the mansion reveal family photos and mementoes from Ferguson's illustrious career, including traditional tartan carpets in some rooms. A grand chandelier hangs in the hallway in front of a centre-based staircase.

Ferguson, who led Manchester United to 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies during his 27-year reign, may be looking to downsize following his wife's death. Lady Cathy, 84, was laid to rest in Glasgow after a funeral at St Andrew's Cathedral.
