Manchester United are preparing to send teenage prospect Ethan Williams out on loan to a League Two side, with a move expected to be finalised imminently. The 18-year-old winger has impressed at youth level this season, registering six goal contributions in nine appearances across all competitions.
Williams, who signed his first professional contract in July 2024, has trained with the first team and featured in pre-season. Despite interest from League One clubs Leyton Orient and Stockport County, United believe the fourth tier is the ideal level for his development.
Another youngster, Ethan Wheatley, is also expected to leave on loan, though a destination has yet to be found. The striker has been a key figure for the Under-21s and Under-18s and has attracted interest from several lower-league clubs.
Manager Ruben Amorim is continuing to assess his squad, but United are keen to ensure their academy talents gain regular playing time. The club have learned from previous loans where young players received limited minutes, and are now prioritising moves that guarantee game time.
United have seen success with recent loan spells, including defender Sonny Aljofree at Accrington Stanley and goalkeeper Elyh Harrison at Chester. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford remains a potential high-profile exit, with AC Milan and Monaco among the clubs interested in a loan deal.
