Manchester United have been warned they have no realistic chance of signing Jude Bellingham, with former Red Devils striker Teddy Sheringham insisting the club are not an attractive option for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
Bellingham, 19, is expected to leave Dortmund at the end of the season, with Manchester City, Real Madrid and Liverpool currently viewed as frontrunners. While United are thought to hold an interest, Sheringham, a key part of United's 1999 treble-winning side, believes the club are too far behind rivals City and Liverpool to tempt Bellingham.
“In terms of which club he suits, Man United will want him but City and Liverpool are way ahead of them at the moment,” Sheringham told Boyle Sports. “City looks the most likely, particularly as Pep Guardiola is staying for another two years.”
Sheringham also praised Bellingham's performance for England in their World Cup win over Iran, comparing his driving runs from deep to Steven Gerrard. Former United captain Roy Keane also lauded the teenager, calling him “world class” and highlighting his maturity and goal record.
