Manchester United are set to announce a new contract for Kobbie Mainoo within the next 48 hours, with the England midfielder quadrupling his wages after committing his future to the club.
New Deal Worth £120,000 a Week
The 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal worth £120,000 per week, which will keep him at Old Trafford until 2031. The announcement is expected before the end of the week, ending a three-month negotiation period.
Remarkable Turnaround
Just months ago, Mainoo was on the verge of leaving United to join Napoli on a six-month loan. He had grown frustrated under former manager Ruben Amorim, who refused to select him, prompting fears that his England World Cup hopes were in jeopardy.
However, Amorim was sacked and replaced by Michael Carrick on an interim basis. Carrick reinstated Mainoo, who has since played a key role in helping United climb to third in the Premier League table.
Carrick's Influence
Carrick, though reluctant to involve himself in contract negotiations, spoke to club bosses to emphasise Mainoo's long-term value. He endorsed the significant wage increase, reflecting the midfielder's importance to the team both now and in the future.
Mainoo has already regained his place in the England squad and is increasingly confident of making the World Cup squad for the tournament in North America in June.
