Man Utd revive Lewis Hall interest as Conte sets conditions

Manchester United are reportedly ready to revive their interest in Newcastle's Lewis Hall, while Antonio Conte has reportedly set out conditions amid speculation linking him with the Old Trafford job.

United's tough run of games continues against Bournemouth on Sunday, with Michael Carrick desperately needing three points. United have gone five games without a win in the Premier League, leaving them 13th in the table, closer to the relegation zone than the Champions League spots.

Pressure Mounts on Carrick

The pressure is on Carrick amid speculation he could be sacked if results don't improve, and soon. Ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash away to Como, he had to fend off questions about former United boss Erik ten Hag's recent comments about the club.

The Dutchman accused United's ownership of broken promises and said there was a toxic atmosphere within the squad in a wide-ranging interview with The Athletic.

Carrick has also had to contend with an injury crisis, which left him without nine first-team players for the game against Como.

United Back in for Hall

United are reportedly ready to revive their interest in Newcastle's Lewis Hall. There was disappointment in the summer when the club failed to land a replacement - or at least an alternative - to Luke Shaw.

United wanted Hall but Newcastle were unwilling to sell and then tied the full-back to a new long-term contract, which appeared to make him unattainable. However, according to The i Paper, United will make a fresh bid to sign the 22-year-old, who, it is claimed, is open to moving to Old Trafford.

The same report says United are interested in another left-back, Adrien Truffert, who is expected to leave Bournemouth next summer amid significant interest in the French defender.

Conte's Conditions

Antonio Conte, a contender to replace Carrick if United decide to make a change, has reportedly set out his conditions amid interest from Juventus. The Italians are the other club being linked with Conte, who is a free agent after leaving Napoli in the summer.

However, according to TMW Radio in Italy, Conte wants specific guarantees 'for the next few seasons' from Juve before returning to the Turin giants, whom he managed between 2011 and 2014. The report adds that if those assurances, which it hints are about rebuilding the squad, aren't met then he is likely to opt for United instead.

Conte recently gave an interview in which he said he can see his next job being with a fallen giant, with United and Juve both falling into that category. He told The Athletic: "There are many clubs that have somewhat lost sight of their history.

"I'd like to go to one of these clubs to dust off that history and make it shine once more. Clubs where there's pressure, where, ultimately, you know full well that you're not going there just to take part, but to compete."

Juve are currently managed by Luciano Spalletti, who, like Carrick, is under mounting pressure following Sunday's 3-0 home defeat to Lazio, which left them eighth in Serie A.
