Man Utd ratings: Mbeumo double and wonderkid shine in Atletico win
Man Utd ratings: Mbeumo double and wonderkid shine

Michael Carrick's Manchester United continued their pre-season preparations with a come-from-behind victory over Atletico Madrid in Stockholm.

Atletico took the lead after five minutes when a cross-cum-shot went in untouched. United laboured until the second half, when Shea Lacey won a penalty and Bryan Mbeumo converted. Mbeumo then struck again from close range after Jack Fletcher's high press, putting United ahead.

Carrick's side face PSG, Leeds United and AC Milan in their remaining pre-season matches before the Premier League season begins.

Starting XI

  • Tom Heaton - 8: Couldn't do much about the opener, made a sharp save later in the first half and a wonderful stop down low in the second.
  • Leny Yoro - 6: Slow for the Atletico goal, better in the second half but unlikely to be first-choice right-back this season.
  • Harry Maguire - 5: Caught on his heels for the opener and could only watch the ball go in.
  • Ayden Heaven - 6: Controlled possession well and split lines with his passing; could be a valuable asset.
  • Luke Shaw - 6: Took time to get up to speed, settled in the second half, subbed around 75 minutes.
  • Andrey Santos - 8: Gave United midfield control with plenty of touches and passes; looks like a player Bruno Fernandes could thrive alongside.
  • Mason Mount - 6: Tried to clear off the line, had plenty of running to do and kept the ball well.
  • Shea Lacey - 7: Won the penalty; has enjoyed a positive pre-season and could be in line for a senior call-up.
  • Amad - 7: Lively, drilled a free-kick that was blocked, subbed off at half-time.
  • Bryan Mbeumo - 6: Glanced a header wide, scored a penalty and a close-range second to give United the lead.
  • Patrick Dorgu - 6: Deployed on the right wing without much impact; involved in the changes before the go-ahead goal.
