Man Utd ratings: 2/10 and four 3/10s in Como defeat

Manchester United's 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League produced a player ratings list that included one 2/10 and four 3/10s, with head coach Michael Carrick's future now hanging by a thread.

The Reds turned in one of their worst European performances in recent memory, conceding inside two minutes when Nico Paz was given time and space to curl home an excellent finish. United were fortunate to go into the break only one goal behind.

Second-Half Collapse

Carrick's half-time changes and team talk had no impact. Anastasios Douvikas scored at the start of the second half, and Paz added a third soon after. Jacobo Ramon then headed in a fourth before Joshua Zirkzee scored a late consolation.

The performance drew sharp criticism, with several players failing to reach acceptable standards. Noussair Mazraoui received the lowest mark of 2/10 for a woeful display that included slow reading of the play, lethargic movement, and weak tackling.

Player Ratings Breakdown

Among the 3/10s were Harry Maguire, who was slow to close down Paz for the opening goal and set the tone for a sloppy evening; Andrey Santos, booked after diving in on Paz with no chance of winning the ball; Bruno Fernandes, who moaned and complained at teammates almost constantly in the first half; and Carlos Baleba, who came on as a substitute but gifted Paz the ball for the third goal.

Diogo Dalot, Mason Mount, Youri Tielemans, and Matheus Cunha each received 4/10. Cunha let Paz jog past him for the opening goal and was a passenger afterwards, also having heated words with Carrick and Fernandes.

Brighter Spots

Matthijs de Ligt and Bryan Mbeumo were rated 5/10, while Senne Lammens, Amad, Zirkzee, and Harry Amass each received 6/10. Zirkzee came on at 3-0 and took his goal well, while Amad fizzed one shot just over the bar.

The result leaves Carrick's future as Manchester United head coach in serious doubt, with the team having made another dreadful start to a European away game.
