Michael Carrick has welcomed three new senior players to Manchester United this summer, but several exits are also expected as pre-season progresses. The permanent manager is preparing for his first full Premier League season in charge after turning the previous campaign into a success.
Rashford swap deal mooted
Marcus Rashford's future remains uncertain after his loan at Barcelona. The Catalan club did not exercise the £26m purchase option, leaving the 28-year-old as a United player. However, reports suggest neither side wants him to stay. According to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, Rashford could be used as a makeweight in a deal for Roma midfielder Manu Kone.
Kone, who impressed at the World Cup for France, is reportedly available for £51m this summer. Roma need a left-sided forward but are constrained by Financial Fair Play regulations. Rashford's £350,000-per-week wages have made him difficult to shift, and a swap could facilitate the move.
Carrick axes four players
The Daily Mail reports that four of Rashford's teammates are set to leave: goalkeeper Radek Vitek, defender Harry Amass, and midfielders Dan Gore and Toby Collyer. Vitek and Amass may initially be sent out on loan with an option to buy. Vitek has attracted interest from multiple Championship clubs, while Amass is valued at about £6 million.
Collyer spent last season on loan at Hull City, and the newly promoted Tigers are reportedly interested in signing him permanently. Gore is on the chopping block following a loan spell at Rotherham United.
