Manchester United have learned that Club Brugge will demand around £43m to sell striker Nicolo Tresoldi before next week's transfer deadline. The Reds have been monitoring the 22-year-old on a daily basis after being impressed by his performances in the Belgian Pro League.
Brugge set their price
According to Bulinews, the Belgian club have placed a price tag of approximately £43m on Tresoldi, underlining his importance to their long-term plans. Whether United are willing to meet that valuation remains uncertain, with other areas thought to be higher priorities, including a central midfielder and a left-back.
AS Roma have already seen a £29.9m bid rejected for the forward, indicating Brugge's firm stance. United would also face stiff competition, with Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Barcelona linked to the German U21 international.
Impressive form since arrival
Tresoldi arrived at the Jan Breydel Stadium from Hanover 96 last summer and quickly settled in, scoring 13 goals in 30 appearances during a breakthrough season that ended with a league title. He has continued that form this term, scoring in each of his three league appearances, including the decisive goal in Sunday's win over Cercle Brugge.
The Cagliari-born forward is reportedly settled at his current club and has no plans to leave just yet, meaning United may also need to convince the player himself.
Left-back search continues
United are also thought to be interested in Barcelona's Alejandro Balde as they look to strengthen their defence. With Luke Shaw now 31 and entering the final year of his contract, the club may be planning for the future. Newcastle United's refusal to sell Lewis Hall has forced United to look elsewhere.
Balde, 22, has fallen out of favour under Hansi Flick and could be a successor to Shaw, but whether United will meet Barcelona's demands with just a week left in the window remains to be seen.
