Manchester United have made an enquiry for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado, according to reports in Spain. The 22-year-old has struggled for regular game time at Camp Nou this season, starting just 10 La Liga matches.
Casado emerged from Barcelona's La Masia academy and has made 60 senior appearances. Initially reluctant to consider offers, he is now contemplating his future after Atletico Madrid identified him as a potential replacement for Conor Gallagher, who moved to Tottenham for £34million. United are said to have 'closely monitored' the midfielder before making an approach.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes Marcus Rashford's Manchester United career is over, regardless of who is in charge next season. Rashford, 28, is on loan at Barcelona, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists in 29 appearances. Murphy told Boyle Sports: 'I think his days at United are over, regardless of who is in charge.'
United have not made any first-team signings in the January transfer window, despite spending over £200million in the summer. The club are also reportedly open to outgoings, with Joshua Zirkzee and Jadon Sancho among those linked with moves away from Old Trafford.
