Man Utd Injury Latest: Mount, De Ligt, Dorgu Updates

Manchester United Injury Latest Ahead of Everton Premier League Clash

Manchester United interim head coach Michael Carrick has issued a comprehensive injury update ahead of the Red Devils' upcoming Premier League fixture against Everton. The team, currently occupying fourth place in the league standings, faces a challenging trip to Merseyside on Monday evening following a weekend break due to FA Cup commitments.

Carrick, who has secured victories in four of his five matches since taking temporary charge, confirmed that several key players will be unavailable for the crucial encounter. United's recent form includes a hard-fought draw away to West Ham, but their Champions League qualification hopes remain firmly in their own hands.

Patrick Dorgu's Hamstring Injury

Danish international Patrick Dorgu continues to be sidelined with a significant hamstring injury sustained back in January. Carrick expressed disappointment at the setback, revealing that the young defender faces an extended period on the treatment table.

"Pat, unfortunately, he's gonna be out for a period of time," Carrick stated on January 30. "We're still working through how long that's going to be. He's disappointed, he's had such a big couple of weeks. At the moment it looks a little bit more on the serious note so it'll be a few weeks for that."

The manager emphasized that United must exercise patience with Dorgu's recovery, with a potential return date projected for March or April depending on his rehabilitation progress.

Mason Mount's Training Ground Setback

Midfielder Mason Mount will miss his fourth consecutive match after sustaining an injury during training earlier this month. Carrick confirmed that the England international is making steady progress but won't be rushed back into action prematurely.

"Mason is getting closer, we have to be patient with him," Carrick explained on Friday. "We don't want to rush anything, he is getting closer."

United supporters can anticipate Mount's potential return for the home Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace on March 1, provided his recovery continues without complications.

Matthijs De Ligt's Back Injury Recovery

Defender Matthijs de Ligt remains unavailable as he continues his rehabilitation from a back injury that has kept him out of action since November. While the Dutch international is gradually moving closer to a first-team return, Carrick confirmed he trails behind Mount in the recovery timeline.

"De Ligt is working towards it, he is a little bit behind Mason," Carrick revealed this week.

The center-back could potentially make his comeback during United's away Premier League fixture against Newcastle on March 4, though this remains subject to his ongoing fitness assessments.

Everton Challenge Under David Moyes

United's trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium presents a reunion with former manager David Moyes, who now oversees Everton's operations. Despite the injury setbacks, Carrick will be looking to maintain United's positive momentum as they pursue Champions League qualification.

The absence of Mount, De Ligt, and Dorgu will test United's squad depth, but Carrick's interim tenure has thus far demonstrated tactical adaptability and resilience in the face of selection challenges.
