Manchester United supporters are being charged nearly £770 for an hour-long five-a-side match with club legend Paul Scholes. The event, organised by Heroes & Legends, is scheduled for 3 September at Hotel Football, a venue co-owned by Scholes, Gary Neville, and Ryan Giggs.
Tickets are priced at £750 plus an £18.75 service fee, and despite the steep cost, all spots are sold out. The match will take place on the hotel's rooftop pitch, with rolling substitutions every three minutes to ensure all participants get game time. Participants will also receive a burger and fries as part of the package.
In addition to the football, fans will have a photo opportunity with Scholes, who will sign one piece of memorabilia per person. The Heroes & Legends website promotes the event as an opportunity to 'show off your skills, learn from the best, and compete for glory,' urging interested parties that 'limited spots available.'
Scholes, 50, is widely regarded as one of England's finest midfielders. During his career at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson, he won 11 Premier League titles, three FA Cups, two Champions Leagues, two League Cups, the Intercontinental Cup, and the Club World Cup. He made 716 appearances for the club, scoring 155 goals and registering 82 assists.
Since retiring, Scholes has worked as a pundit for TNT Sports and appears regularly on the YouTube channel The Overlap. He also had brief managerial stints at Oldham Athletic and Salford City, the latter of which he co-owns with fellow Class of '92 graduates.
