Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the situation at Newcastle United as they target left-back Lewis Hall. The defender, who joined Newcastle from Chelsea in 2024, is one of the club's top candidates to provide competition for Luke Shaw.

Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe is set to leave after five years at the club, with Matthias Jaissle expected to replace him. The uncertainty has created an opportunity for United, with Hall reportedly wanting to leave even before Howe's departure.
Position change frustration
Hall believes his positional switch to right-back at the end of last season cost him a place in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for this summer's World Cup. He was moved to cover injuries and later found himself on the bench, leaving him unsettled.
No talks yet
Despite the interest, no talks have taken place between the two clubs. Newcastle have already sold two key players this summer—Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali—for a combined £170 million. Midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has also been linked with a move away, with Arsenal keen.
Hall has three years remaining on his contract and has made 102 appearances for Newcastle since his arrival.
