Jamie Carragher has praised Bryan Mbeumo as one of the Premier League's best signings this season, following the forward's impressive form since joining Manchester United. The Cameroon international was signed during Ruben Amorim's final transfer window, part of a £200m spending spree that also brought Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens to Old Trafford.
Mbeumo, who can play as a right-winger or through the middle, has been a key figure in United's resurgence under caretaker manager Michael Carrick. The club have taken 16 points from a possible 18 since Amorim's departure last month, climbing into the Champions League places. Carragher told Sky Sports: 'He suits Manchester United so well. He can get you up the pitch with power and pace and has that finish as well. He's been absolutely fantastic.'
Gary Neville also applauded the signing, suggesting Arsenal and Chelsea should have pursued Mbeumo. 'He would have been a sensation for Arsenal,' Neville said on the Stick to Football podcast, while Ian Wright admitted he was 'gutted' the forward did not join the Gunners.
Mbeumo's impact has been part of a broader upturn at United, with Sesko scoring six goals in seven games and Lammens establishing himself as first-choice goalkeeper after an £18m move from Royal Antwerp. Carrick praised his side's spirit after Monday's 1-0 win at Everton, saying: 'A clean sheet is fantastic. We can play better than that, but it is pleasing to come away from home and win 1-0.'
