Manchester United Dismiss Barcelona Interest in Sesko

Manchester United have firmly dismissed reports linking Benjamin Sesko with a move to Barcelona, insisting the striker is not for sale. Spanish newspaper Marca had claimed Sesko was on a shortlist to replace Robert Lewandowski at the Nou Camp, but United sources have given those reports short shrift.

Sesko joined United from RB Leipzig for £73 million last summer and, after a slow start, finished the season strongly with 12 goals in 32 appearances, including 11 in the Premier League. The 23-year-old is seen as the club's long-term No. 9 following Rasmus Hojlund's permanent move to Napoli for £38 million.

Barcelona have been pushing to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid but are yet to agree a deal, leading them to consider alternatives including Sesko and Borussia Dortmund's Serhou Guirassy. However, United have no intention of selling the Slovenian after just one season at Old Trafford.

Sesko featured in all but one of the 31 Premier League games he was available for last season, starting 17 times. Seven of his goals came after Michael Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim in January, and he is expected to play a more prominent role next season.
