Manchester United's JJ Gabriel, 15, Poised for Debut Against Rosenborg

Manchester United youngster JJ Gabriel is expected to make his first-team debut in Friday's pre-season friendly against Rosenborg. The 15-year-old trained with the first team on Monday and is under consideration for the squad travelling to Norway.

Gabriel has been unable to play previously due to age restrictions, but a similar squad to the one that lost 1-0 to Wrexham is anticipated, with some changes. He joined United's academy in 2022 and became the youngest-ever player for the under-18 side in 2025, scoring 26 goals in 29 appearances last season.

Manager Michael Carrick commented: "He's not allowed [to make his debut], he's too young. JJ is a big talent, it's pretty obvious. Patience is important in managing everything that comes with that."

Gabriel can sign a professional contract when he turns 17 in October next year. Meanwhile, United recently signed Tynan Thompson from Tottenham for £4m plus £4m in add-ons.
