Manchester United produced another dramatic comeback at Old Trafford as two stoppage-time goals secured a 4-4 draw against Aston Villa.
United fell 2-0 behind within four minutes. Alysson forced a shot through Senne Lammens after 60 seconds, and Lammens then spilled a shot from the same player at the feet of Nicolas Jackson, who converted.
Once again they responded to a dire predicament. Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty before Youri Tielemans drew United level just before half-time.
Second-Half Collapse and Fightback
Villa restored their lead at the start of the second half when John McGinn scored from the spot after a poor tackle by Diogo Dalot, before a defensive disasterclass allowed Leon Goretzka to get a fourth.
Joshua Zirkzee scored late on, and Patrick Dorgu headed home from a corner to rescue a point in the 96th minute.
Player Ratings
Senne Lammens: At fault for both of Villa's goals in the first four minutes and then slow off his line later in the half to close down Alysson. A few questions being asked for the first time in his United career. 3
Diogo Dalot: Should have done more to stop Alysson getting his shot away in the first minute. Played one awful pass into trouble and then conceded a penalty with a lazy tackle. 2
Leny Yoro: Passing a bit sloppy at times and Jackson gave him a few problems. Header against his own bar for Villa's fourth was a bizarre decision. 4
Harry Maguire: Recovered well from the early defensive chaos and was strong and decisive in the first half before being forced off. 6
Noussair Mazraoui: Good assist for Tielemans' equaliser but shaky at the back at times. 5
Kobbie Mainoo: Strong in the tackle and won plenty of duels again. 6
Youri Tielemans: Taunted by the away end so would have loved scoring in front of the Stretford End. Looked sharper on the ball than early in the season. 7
Amad: Worked hard off the ball and was a threat down the right at times, but missed a really big chance in the first half. 6
Bruno Fernandes: Better than he has been and brought the stutter run back for the penalty, but frustration was getting the better of him after that dismal start to the second half. 6
Matheus Cunha: Tested Suzuki with one shot and did well to win the penalty. 6
Bryan Mbeumo: Struggled to get involved in the game and can have matches like that as a striker. 5
