Man United dressing room fear 'emerges' as Carrick responds

Manchester United players are reportedly worried that filming for Amazon Prime's All or Nothing documentary series could be affecting their performances on the pitch. The Reds are set to be the latest Premier League side to feature in the docuseries, which has previously centred on Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Dressing room concerns over documentary filming

The Sun has claimed that squad members fear the filming is adversely impacting dressing room discussions. It is reported that the presence of camera crews has meant "punches are being pulled" during post-match team debriefs, potentially playing a part in the side's early season difficulties.

When quizzed about the documentary filming back in August, United manager Michael Carrick said: "That's been fine. It's obviously a little bit new, and unique, but the actual day-to-day workings of it, we have that many cameras around anyway that the boys are kind of half-used to it."

"We've got to work through it, of course, but they've been respectful. It probably seems bigger from the outside than it is day-to-day when we're working in it."

Carrick rejects reluctance claim

Carrick has firmly rejected the notion that he was reluctant to return to management before accepting the United position. The 45-year-old maintained that he is fully committed to his role at Old Trafford after club icon Nicky Butt revealed what Carrick had confided in him following his dismissal at Middlesbrough.

Speaking on The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast, Butt recalled: "I was with Michael before he got the Man United job and spoke to him about management. He went, 'No it's not for me, it's too much. My head's all over the show. I'd only do it for the big job.' The big job is Man United."

When those remarks were put to Carrick during a press conference, the United boss responded: "I definitely wouldn't be here if that was the case, would I?"

"At this stage. It's the best job I could possibly have. It's the best role I could possibly have. I feel a real privilege of being in this position and a real responsibility, but equally a drive of wanting to make a difference and having success here."

United have endured a challenging start to the campaign, with Carrick facing increasing pressure. The club have struggled to replicate the performances that saw his side secure a Champions League berth in the early stages of his tenure. Carrick made his return to Old Trafford in January and swiftly guided his side up the standings, but that momentum has stalled in the opening stages of the new season, despite significant investment in Carlos Baleba, Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos in the middle of the park.
